Sukkur is connected by the N-5, M-5 Motorway, railway, and airport, but roads in Salehpat, Pano Aqil, Rohri, and nearby areas remain poorly maintained, congested, and flood-prone.
Despite the Indus River and Sukkur Barrage, many communities lack safe drinking water due to aging infrastructure, leakages, contamination, and untreated groundwater, especially in peripheral areas.
Healthcare relies on Civil Hospital Sukkur, Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College Hospital, taluka hospitals, and BHUs, but shortages of specialists, staff, medicines, diagnostics, and emergency services overburden city hospitals.
Despite its commercial and industrial importance, unemployment persists due to limited industrial diversification, skills gaps, informal employment, and weak private investment, especially among youth.
Pollution, poor waste management, untreated wastewater, traffic and industrial emissions, waterlogging, and flooding continue to threaten public health, infrastructure, agriculture, and environmental sustainability.
